I am surprised that anyone will ever think I am campaigning for Chibuike Amaechi, infact I am shock!. But of course Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is an Igbo man (you can't take that fact away!); that he once denied his ancestry for selfishness is terrible, but it is pardonable - (he is a prodigal Igbo man).

I have since announced Peter Obi (okute ndi-Igbo) as my choice for President of Nigeria in 2023 - that has not changed.

THINGS WORTH KNOWING

The other ethnic groups in former Eastern Nigerian have been made to believe that Nd'igbo were responsible for the under development in their areas. As a matter of fact even outside former Eastern Nigeria that assumption still holds. A Benin classmate in medical school said his father told them that the Igboman is very wicked. That if you employ  Igboman in your rubber farm to tap rubber for you, he will tap the rubber tree until the tree dies. I was amazed. The rubber owned by the Benin man, he employs an Igbo to tap, will wait for the rubber to die b4 stopping the poor Igbo tapper? You and l know it is not true, others may swallow it line hook and sinker.The indigenes of Niger Delta first went to School, embraced civilization before Igbos in the hinterland. They were better prepared for civil service/white collar jobs as at the time Nd'Igbo were still hunting rabbits and farming in the bush. As at the time Rev. Hope Wadell came to Calabar about 1846, the Obong of Calabar and the family were already trading with Europeans and keeping records, so they had education. Coincidentally today 27th July makes it 163 years Christianity, followed by education came to Igbo land through the expedition of Samuel Ajayi Crowther. They arrived Onitsha 27th July 1857. This brought about, evangelisation on both banks of Niger-Asaba on the left and Onitsha on the right. First Europeans, Portuguese arrived Nigeria-Ishekiri/Benin Kingdom 1485, long before slave trade. 

Even with this the Delta Igbos embraced education more than the Benin, Urhobo and the Ishekiris after 1857. When Midwest was created out of Old Western region, in the 60s of the 12 permanent Secretaries that left Ibadan to Benin, the new capital, 9 were delta Igbos.  Of the 9 Doctors at Benin Central Hospital, 8 were delta Igbos. The Judiciary had Idigbe and other Igbo speakining people. This attracted so much envy that during the Asaba massacre most of those professionals who were home were all killed in cold blood. Bonny, Nembe and other riverine areas were already in business. There are many like that. In that former Eastern Nigeria where the minorities were marginalised:The first African Principal of DMGS Onitsha,  was SJ Cookey from Opobo. The first African Principal Govt College Umuahia was Erekosima, KalabariThe first African Principal, Government Secondary school, Owerri was Kombo, NembeMboto from Itigidi was in charge in Government Secondary school Afikpo.The first African Chief Dental Surgeon Eastern Nigeria was Dr. Ernest Dublin Green, BonnyThe first Chief Architect Eastern Nigeria was Chief AG Spiff,  who was killed on the sea in the 90s in one of the Kalabari/Nembe crisis. As at the time of all these appointments no igbo man was qualified. How come they did not dominate the east? Nd'igbo took education seriously from 1930, invested in education and are reaping the benefits. The successes achieved by Nd'Igbo upto to this moment are based on individual efforts and off course the fact that we believe in Mentorship. In the 50s, very few lawyers could compete with the Douglas family of Abonema, who were later joined by Onitsha lawyers. The Ibibio tribe had a strong  Ibibio Union in Aba, and they invested in education, awarding scholarships to their brilliant children. As a matter of fact, Ibibio had a strong political presence in Aba, their young professionals practiced in Aba. You can look up Udo Udoma's  write up. That was why in Former South Eastern State, the Ibibios occupied more positions than the Efik who made contact with Europeans earlier. Till today, the Ibibios maintain that lead in that region.I don't want to delve into the issues on houses, naming of streets ACB loans etc, but l know that uptil today you still have streets named after minorities-none Igbos in Enugu, and other Igbo states. So at what point did the Igbo domination/marginalization start. Let us look at issues properly. Passing unsubstantiated history to generations make people grow with animosity,  which would not make for competitive challenge. 50 years has passed since the war ended. By now we would have known how fair/unfair we have been to each other. That is why l keep saying until we sit down and talk, open our minds take blames and responsibilities, as well as  atonement where necessary  we will all be treated with disdain in Nigeria. The north and even Obasanjo had always said they liberated Niger Delta from Nd'igbo.  Average Hausa man will say "Dukan su Nyamiri ne-"All of you are "Nyamiri". When brothers fight, and kill themselves, an outsider benefits from what they leave behind. When a woman marries two husbands she will be in a position to know which is better. The world over is competitive. No tribe/group is more intelligent. Every individual/group strives to survive and over come the disadvantages nature has placed in their environment. Nd'igbo may look aggressive in their quest for survival, but are not ruthless. THE PHILOSOPHIES THAT SHAPED THE IGBO Part 1

With the 20 pounds I mentioned in my write up last week, the Igbo fearlessly dispersed to all the parts of the world depending solely on God, with a single mindset of survival that is governed by a few Igbo philosophies, namely: EZIOKWU BU NDU, ONYE AHGALA NWANNE YA, IGWE BU IKE, OME IHE JIDE OFO MAKA OJI OFO GA ALA, EGBE BERE UGO BERE NKE SI IBE YA EBELA NKU KWAA YA, NDU MMIRI NDU AZU-MMIRI ATALA MA AZU ANWULA, IGBO AMA EZE, AKU RUE ULO etc.

Somehow, the young Igbo born after the civil war who may not understand these tenets yet pretending to fight the “Biafran” cause situates his fight wrongly while other ethnic nationalities who do not understand our philosophy see the Igbo as aggressive, arrogant and domineering.

Today, I would like to touch briefly on four of these principles, tenets or philosophies to see what they stand for.

1. EZIOKWU BU NDU (ENG Translation: Truth is Life)

John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The Igbo is arguably the most predictable people anywhere you find them. They don’t pretend, they hardly deceive and so cannot be sycophants. What you see is what you get. This is the basis of “truth is life” as a philosophy, which speaks of integrity and honesty as instructed by God. You know where an Igbo stands in every situation. Their major flaw is that they have no tact or cunning when applying “truth is life” as a philosophy and this makes them appear blunt, arrogant, bold, aggressive, courageous and fearless to others. Whatever they believe in, whether good or bad, they pursue it with all their might, soul and spirit. This trait, coupled with inexhaustible resilience and energy paints a picture of superiority complex to their neighbors who responds with fear of domination, resentment and outright hatred. There is a need to apply this principle with a high dose of diplomacy.

2. ONYE AHGALA NWANNE YA (ENG Translation: A person must not abandon his relations.)

Joshua 1:13-15 “…You are to help your brothers until the Lord gives them rest as He has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving them…”

The Igbo is a traveler, a community person who values the well-being of every member of his community. And so, no matter where he goes and what he does he believes that his success should be the success of all his relations. He struggles not for himself alone and once he finds success he reaches out to other members of his family or community to train and establish till they become affluent as he is. This is what gave rise to the Igbo apprentice and mentor-ship (Igba-boy) program seen as the largest Venture capital scheme practiced anywhere in the world, currently being studied in major Ivy League institutions around the world. And this is why you don’t find many beggars of Igbo extraction on the streets.

3. IGWE BU IKE (ENG Translation: Unity or Number is strength)

Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work.”

Perhaps, no other tribe in Nigeria has benefited from the population of this nation more that the Igbo. The Igbo is a serial entrepreneur always on the lookout for bigger markets. Entrepreneurship in itself is a game of numbers which derives its impetus and profit from market share based on population. 

According to Ikechukwu Anthony Kanu, Mbiti (1970) classically proverbializes unity or the Igwebuike relationship thus: “I am because we are and since we are, therefore I am” (p. 108). To paraphrase this, I would then say: “Nigeria is because of the diversity of the component parts, and since Nigeria is, therefore we are. In other words, the diverse component parts are, because Nigeria is, and since Nigeria is, therefore the component parts are. 

The Igbo understanding of Igwebuike as a philosophy is that it strongly demonstrates that the whole is greater than the corresponding parts, and that Together, Each component unit Achieves More (TEAM). In other words, considering that the Igbo is a creative, a businessperson, a serial entrepreneur, I think he has prospered mainly outside Biafra and more in Nigeria and therefore is better off in Nigeria than she is in Biafra. Those who champion the Biafran cause must not forget that it is foolhardy to jump out of a ship of a 200million market share in the Nigerian state into a canoe of 50million market share in a Biafran state.

4. OME IHE JIDE OFO MAKA OJI OFO GA ALA, (ENG Translation: Whatever you do, do with clear conscience for he that has a clear conscience would ultimately prevail).

1John 3:21 “Whenever our conscience condemns us, we know that 

God is greater than our conscience and knows everything. Dear Friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we obey His commands and do what pleases Him.”

“Clear conscience they say, fears no accusation.” This Igbo philosophy eschews lies, craftiness, deceit and every form of evil. It derives from the golden rule which says we should do unto others as we would want others do unto us. And any counter to this produces guilty conscience that leads to dire consequences.

He made the called when members of CAN paid him a courtesy call at his residence in Lagos to discuss the issues affecting the country, church and the state of insecurity in Nigeria.

Daddy G.O as he is fondly called revealed that massive corruption is killing Nigeria gradually and must be stopped before it consumes everyone.

Having checked on the crop of politicians parading themselves as leaders, I found Mr. Peter Obi to be the most qualified to lead Nigeria to the promised land, therefore, I endorse him for president come 2023.

Pastor Adeboye who was involved in a Protest March recently against the killings of Christian before the lockdown call on the Federal executive to shorn tribal sentiment and work towards installing Mr. Obi as the next president of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“In the past, I have supported all the candidates that sort for my support, but today, I’m calling on all and sundry to rally round and support the emergence of Mr. Peter Obi of Anambra state ahead of the next general election”., he said.

“Let an honest Igbo Man with many years of wealth of experience lead Nigeria to the PROMISED LAND. 

Saying ”We have tarried here for too long, It’s time to crossover to the other side of the Jordan” he appealed.

WHAT'S THIS THING ABOUT THE IGBO ?

I am just coming back from the Southeast, precisely Ngor Okpala in old Owerri division. Owerri people (defined largely to include old Ngor Okpala and Mbaise) are quintessential Igbo, according to some accounts. The great Achebe was inspired by their cultural richness to write Things Fall Apart. 

Life is beautiful in the Southeast, even as bad governance is fast ruining the life of an exuberant and intelligent people. But in the Southeast, there is soul. That is, if you pay attention to the wisdom of ages that can rival those of the Hebrew and the Greek: two greatest civilizations of all ages. I guess the Igbo add to the tripod of the global intellect. 

I went for a burial of a close relative. Bad roads made the journey tortuous. As we wobbled through the night, I thought about Dr MI Okpara, Nigeria’s managerial genius who crafted the world’s fastest growing economy in the 1960s through what we now know as the ‘developmental state’. I remembered Dr Sam Mbakwe, ‘The Weeping Governor’ whose ‘Biafran Spirit’ mobilized old Imo State to show the Nigerian nation how to build infrastructure through voluntarism. No matter what becomes of the Imo airport through subsequent leadership mediocrity, the airport stands as a testimony that our forebears were right that ‘igwe bu Ike’ and ‘ivu anyi ndanda’. Of course, my mind raced to Dr Nnana Ukegbu whose ‘Agrarian Revolution Without Tear’, and ‘Technological and Economic Development Mission (TEDEM)’ would have turned Nigeria into the better of Singapore and South Korea. These Igbo visionaries were hamstrung or obstructed by the mediocrity and dysfunction of the Nigerian state. In Owerri and the rest of the Igbo homeland, you will see evidence of enterprise, innovation and modern statecraft buried in the infrastructural and governance ruins. 

At the funeral after the burial, I encountered the Igbo civilizational imprint that has become much misunderstood and maligned these days: the Igbo republicanism. Many notable modern Igbo people regret that worldview. In their small minds, the crisis of being and belonging of the Igbo in today’s Nigeria derives from this normative defect. For them, if we don’t make for ourselves kings like our neighbours, then we will remain miserable. More important for them, we will not be Nigeria’s president. Like the misguided Jewish elders, they are asking that we be like our brothers and sisters – the Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani – and have stalwarts rule over us like the rest. Wiser Igbo leaders, especially the young, are saying no. The experience at the village funeral convinced me that those who say that everyone should be their own king are right. Again, I can tell Sir Arthur Eze, ‘Ozo Igbo Ndu’, that the Igbo love themselves. 

As I was greeting my Abuja friends at the funeral event, an uncle, a senior by few years, who is financially out and out in every sense, drew my shirt and informed me that the Nze of our community, who was seated with some youths and a few young elders at far corner of the large compound, wants to see me now. The Nze was formerly a Lagos hustler who made money in ways that some consider objectionable, but returned to the village to invest in its wellbeing. He invested energy in community peace and human resource, and was greatly love by the youths. When he entered the race to be the Nze, many elders objected, pointing his past as ‘businessman’ in Lagos.  These elders knew he was in good standing on community support and peace building. But they felt his past was not a good pedigree for such noble customary leadership. But the people wanted him. At the vote he won. Those elders filibustered, but finally yielded to popular choice. He has not being found wanting in the office of Nze. 

The Nze asked me to sit with Umunna. As I sat down, I surveyed the mixed multitude. A few notables were seated. A pastor who practises in Warri, a Prof from Benin, an insurance chief executive from Port Harcourt, a rainmaker, a petty trader, several unemployed youths, a retired headmaster and several nondescript Umunna: everyone sat on the next available seat just as they came. The insurance chief executive ordered for drinks for all – he is not from the bereaved family. He is following the Igbo wisdom that ‘whoever is able should bury the father and not leave it to the first son because it’s not the first son that killed the father’.  Soon I ordered a pot of pepper soup. The challenge was how to share the limited supply to a larger number of Umunna. I presented it to the Nze and sharing started. First to the Nze, then to the chief and other chieftains from neighbouring communities. Then we ran into a problem. Many could not get. Then someone brought plates of chicken. I gave to the Nze, gave to the chief and other chieftains sitting around the Nze. Then a voice shouted from the far comer: “Are we not part of the funeral? What’s happening there?” I looked at him. He wore dirty slippers and looked physically inconsequential even as his voice was thunderous and confident. No one challenged him. The Nze glanced at his side and nodded. Another supply came, and I headed straight for the far corner where this penurious but dignified Umunnna sat. He took the big chuck of chicken without any courtesy. The Nze and his fellow titled men did not receive any portion. I felt satisfied. I have done justice. 

Suddenly a voice thundered from the other side: “Do you guys remember age in your distribution? You can be installed Nze or chief, but you can’t be installed the oldest man. You boys should honour old age to grow old.” He did not say it again. A plate of boiled egg arrived, and I started with him. “You can’t be installed the oldest man.” That rang in my head. I remembered Achebe’s words: ‘amongst the Igbos (sic), age and title are revered’. Revered but not worshiped. The actual Igbo word interpreted as title is ‘Nzere’, which is better interpreted as ‘achievement’. So amongst the Igbo, age and achievement are revered.  But every person is honoured and dignified as an Umunna. The rich and the poor; the distinguished and the wastrel.  

Now some people think we are not so blest because we are not organized hierarchically, such that the likes of Sir Arthur Eze will have their fiefdoms. We say we are a republican people. People trivialize this powerful conception to just that we don’t have emirs, obas and sultans. It is more than that. Republicanism starts from the concept of absolute egalitarianism; it means that all people are equal in one virtue that matters: dignity that attached to being an Umunna in a covenantal relationship. Those who peddle the myth of our Jewish origin have this similarity as a probative evidence. The Jews and the Igbo alone in human civilization can lay claims to this extraordinary insight that formed the normative foundation of our imperfect democracy. The Greek in all their profundities are not in this rarified circle. Athens – the Greek city state associated with the birth of democracy – has the contamination of hierarchy amongst the gods and humans. Eric Nielsen of Harvard in his Hebrew Republic argues convincingly that the origin of democracy and universal human rights is Hebraic texts popularized and theorized by the calvinists and English writers like Harrington.

So to those who think we are miserable because we have refused to be like our neighbours, bear with us. This refusal has deep historical and ideological roots. This glorious light has illuminated the world. Maybe it’s our duty to continue to bear the witness of republicanism to the world after the Jews seem to have dropped it. ‘Igbo Enwe Eze’ stands as a memorial to a view rooted in covenant with Jahweh that every one counts equal, no matter how wise or wealthy. This will roil those with aristocratic disposition and pretences. No matter how much they share money as generosity in their community, it will pain then that they don’t see mass of Umunna bowing to them or kneeling and shouting ‘ranka dede’. Like King Ahab, they will lose sleep that wretched Naboth refuses to sell his patrimony to the kingly family. To these pretentious aristocrats, the Igbo are an inferior people. They are paying us a compliment with their insults.

OPEN LETTER TO MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC).

You may recall that at the formation of All Progressives Congress in March 2013, the Southeast geopolitical zone was skeptical as to the interest of the zone in the new party.

Although the Southeast never gave full support to the APC in 2015 when it defeated the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at that year’s Presidential Election through retired general Muhammadu Buhari, several leaders of the Southeast still worked for the victory of the party.

Distinguished leaders, recall that following the victory of APC in 2015, the party distributed major offices in both the Legislative and Executive arms without consideration given to the Southeast geopolitical zone. Specifically, the party zoned the Senate Presidency to the Northeast and the Speakership of House of Representatives to Southwest despite the fact that the Southwest produced the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while the Southeast geopolitical zone was left with nothing. The argument of party leaders then was absence of ranking Federal Legislators from the Southeast.

After the 2019 general elections, the APC enjoyed more acceptability from people of the Southeast comparative to 2015, and returned ranking legislators at both the Senate and the Federal House of Representatives, despite this feat, the APC still retained the zoning arrangement of 2015 in the sharing of political offices in both the Executive and  Legislative arms. The Northwest got the President of Nigeria, the Southwest got the positions of Vice President of Nigeria and Speakership of the Federal House of Representatives, the Northeast got the position of President of the Senate, the Northcentral got the position of Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, while the Southsouth got the position of Deputy President of the Senate.  Again the Southeast is left out!

Distinguished Leaders, in 2023 the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari tenure will elapse and there is an ongoing demand for the party to field someone from the Southern region as its Presidential Candidate for 2023. It is only fair and just that the APC micro-zones the Presidential ticket of the party in 2023 to the Southeast zone. This will bring balance and will integrate the Southeast to the core of the party.

Furthermore, considering that the Southeast is the only geopolitical zone in the entire Southern region that is yet to produce the country’s President or Vice President since the return of the Fourth Republic in 1999, it is appropriate for the APC, being the ruling party, to play a lead role in balancing this lopsidedness by presenting a Candidate from the SOUTHEAST.

You may recall that at the formation of the Peoples Democratic Party in 1998, Dr Alexander Ekwueme PhD, former Vice president of Nigeria during the aborted Second Republic that lasted between October 1, 1979 and December 31, 1983, as leader of the group of 38 distinguished leaders of our great country that sacrificed their time and resources for the formation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was seen as the frontline Presidential Aspirant penultimate to the National Convention of 1998.
You may also note that on the eve of the National Convention, some leaders across the country prevailed on the party to present someone from the Southwest geopolitical zone as candidate of PDP for the January 1999 presidential election, which the PDP won. The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu.

Magu’s S.A. on Media, Tony Amokeodo, told Channels Television on Monday that the EFCC boss was only invited to answer questions regarding the allegations against the agency.

According to him, Magu was invited to appear before a panel of the Federal Government set up to investigate the allegations of corruption levelled against him.

The EFCC boss’ media aide said the panel is sitting at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Reacting to the development, DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, said the Service did not arrest Magu.

Afunanya, in a statement, said the DSS has since been inundated with inquiries over the reported arrest of Magu, adding that the Service has no connection with the incident. read more

COVID-19 VACCINE

Scientists in Nigerian universities under the aegis of COVID-19 Research Group yesterday announced the discovery of a vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19.

Addressing a news conference at Adeleke University in Ede, Osun State, Dr Oladipo Kolawole, leader of the team, said the vaccine was being developed locally in Africa for Africans.

Kolawole, a specialist in Medical Virology, Immunology and Bioinformatics at Adeleke University however said the vaccine would also work for other continent when unveiled.

He said the study, which led to the discovery of the vaccine, had enjoyed initial funding by the Trinity Immunodeficient Laboratory and Helix Biogen Consult, Ogbomosho, to the tune of about N7.8 million.

Kolawole said the group had been working extensively by exploring the SARS-CoV-2 genome from African countries to select the best possible potential vaccine candidates.

He said after trying out some selected processes of vaccine development, the researchers had been able to choose the best potential vaccine candidates for the SARS-CoV-2 and had made the possible latent vaccine constructs.

On how soon the unnamed vaccine would be unveiled to the public, Kolawole said that it would take a minimum of 18 months.

According to him, this is because a lot of analysis and studies as well as approvals by medical authorities were still required.

Also, Prof Solomon Adebola, acting vice-chancellor of the university, said the university was poised to assist in the funding of the research with a view to bringing the vaccine to limelight.

He stated: “We are glad that a vaccine that will provide solution to a global problem like Coronavirus pandemic is coming from the garden.

“It is our passion to be a solution provider to such a global pandemic, and we are ready to throw our weights behind the team and make the vaccine a reality”.

Commenting, Prof Julius Oloke, head, coordinating unit of the Research Group and Vice-Chancellor of Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan, said the vaccine was real.

He said, “It’s a pleasure that we have come together to produce a vaccine at a time that the world is in need of solution to a ravaging pandemic. It’s a proof that we are working and not folding our hands or looking away from the problem.

“The vaccine is real. We have validated it severally. It is targeted at Africans, but will also work for other races. It will work. It cannot be faked. This is a result of determination. It took a lot of scientific efforts.

“The population of those that need vaccines is more than those that need drugs. That is why the research focused on vaccine

Only a few people knew the late music icon Majek Fashek better than his cousin and former band mate Amos McRoy, who is now a pastor at Seed of Abraham International Christian Centre. As cousins, McCoy and Majek started their music careers together and were part of the group called Jastix along with Black Rice who was the lead singer. One of the main gigs of the band was to play at music show ‘Music Panorama’ which aired on NTA Benin – a gig facilitated by Orits Wiliki. When the Jastix disbanded, McRoy and Majek focused on their solo careers but also remained very close.

Daily Acting Exercises to Become a Better Actor

If you don’t practice, you don’t get better. Not everyone (especially actors that are just starting out) can not afford multiple acting classes at fancy acting agencies. There are many ways how to improve your acting skills for free. Although, the best way is to be in as many productions as possible. I try to be in 2 plays a year, 3 if I’m not too busy (I’m still in school). The more plays/films you are in, the better you will get and the better your resume looks (I’m not kidding).

One way of increasing your acting skills is to incorporate easy exercises into your day. Some take more time, some you already do even if you are not an actor.

1. People watch. Yes, this will help you tremendously with learning how to react and move your body and facial expressions. I always look around me and observe “natural” movements and interactions between people. Acting is all about being natural and completely in the moment. You must seem like you are in the situation for the first time, and you must act naturally, especially on screen.

2. Stretch. Make your body feel better by stretching in the morning before your day. Actors’ bodies are the base of their art, you must keep good care of it.

3. Exercise. Speaking of keeping care of your body, exercising is important for actors. Your body should be in it’s best form. All celebrities look good. I hope, at least. Remember, don’t be skinny, that’s not healthy. You should look strong, slim, and healthy.

4. Eat well. Speaking of healthy bodies, you should eat healthy foods. Yes, you can have a piece of cake once in a while, but you should make sure that you are consuming foods that are good for you. Don’t worry so much about the calories and fat, think of how the food will effect your mind, your skin, and your body.

5. Vocal warm-ups. You do not have to do this every day, but it is good to warm-up your voice with singing exercises (you don’t have to be able to sing) and tongue-twisters. Buzzing your lips to make a motorcycle noise will warm up your mouth. Then you can repeat tongue-twisters like “Topeka, topeka, topeka, bodega, bodega, bodega, topeka, bodega, topeka, bodega, bodega, topeka, bodega, topeka.” Ha! Try saying that three times fast! There are many others like “One hen, two ducks, three squawking geese…” which you can certainly look up online.

6. Hygiene. Being clean and fresh is very important for everyone, especially actors. You want to always look presentable incase you have a sudden audition, or meeting with casting directors, agents, etc. Please take regular showers, brush your teeth and hair, and have a daily beauty regiment!

7. Feel good about yourself and don’t be afraid to show yourself off. You should feel good about yourself. Be confident. But remember, actors that are too confident are obnoxious and get bad reputations. Please be an angel to your theater/film buddies. Always treat others how you want to be treated. So, how do you show yourself off without looking like a drama queen? Know how to take care of yourself, treat yourself. Buy a beauty book and experiment with makeup so you can flaunt what you got. Show off your best features with clothes. Read a book that influences you to be a better person, and shows you how you can show off your “amazingness.” For instance, Bobbi Brown’s “Beauty Rules” book is great for teenagers and young women. Go to your local bookstore and buy a copy to make you feel better!

There are many talented actors out there, you included, but you must exhibit an aura that portrays you as a healthy, smart, clean, appreciative, active, confident, beautiful and trusting person to become a great and well-respected one.
